BASKETBALL: Melbourne United coach Dean Demopoulos was keeping his cards close to his chest on several injury worries for tonight's NBL clash with the Cairns Taipans in Melbourne.
Several key players missed Thursday night's 100-73 loss to ladder leaders Adelaide 36ers at Titanium Security Arena.
Now Casper Ware has added to the coach's woes, sitting out the last five minutes of the loss with his left ankle in a bucket of ice.
Chris Goulding (ankle), Todd Blanchfield (delayed concussion), David Andersen (knee) and American Ramone Moore (calf) missed the game in Adelaide with Moore's injury being confirmed as season-ending.
His replacement reportedly has been signed and registered before the deadline (tip-off in Adelaide) but won't be ready to face Cairns.
As for the other injured players, Demopoulos was curt when answering questions about the other four's prospects of being available.
"(Goulding was) not well enough to come here (Adelaide),” Demopoulos, whose team slipped out of the top four, said.
"It will be a game-time decision (whether he plays against Cairns). It's his ankle.
"That (Blanchfield) will be game-time also.”
And the prognosis on Ware?
"Precautionary? Yeah, it was precautionary,” Demopoulos said.
"He tweaked it, I think, and I didn't want him to hurt it any more.”
