SOCCEROOS goalkeeper Mathew Ryan looks set to finally end his hellish time with fallen Spanish giants Valencia, as he is on the verge of sealing a temporary move back to Belgium.

Ryan, who had been in hot demand across Spain and the country he used to ply his trade in, is set to reject a move to Anderlecht in order join Racing Genk until the end of the season, according to reports in Belgium.

The 24-year-old had been frozen out at La Liga strugglers Valencia, falling down to third in the pecking order after making just 10 league appearances in his 18 months at the club.

"The Australian former goalkeeper of Club Brugge will almost certainly join Racing Genk until the end of the season,” reports

Ryan had been linked with a move to Brugge's rivals Anderlecht - and also a return to his former club.

Instead, an injury to Racing's first-choice goalkeeper Marco Bizot, which will keep him out for six weeks, has made the Socceroo's decision easy.

Five suitors had previously been linked, with Spanish sides Leganes, Granada and Osasuna all showing interest in the former Central Coast Mariners shotstopper.

KAA Gent was another Belgian side linked as Ryan found himself only on the bench for cup games, and out of the squad altogether for Valencia in La Liga.
