TREES lining Sinnathamby Boulevard are now lit up each night as thousands of lights illuminate Springfield Central.
The lights will be red and green for Christmas but will change to celebrate and promote various occasions and significant dates for businesses and not for profit organisations.
A Springfield City Group Spokesperson said the lights had been switched on for Christmas.
"We are delighted to add even more colour to our community and thought Christmas was the right time to switch them on,” the spokesperson said.
There's different colours planned for different times of the year.
The lights will turn maroon for State of Origin, Wattle for Australia Day, blue and orange for world cancer day in February.
