RAIN and storms are causing havoc in the region, with a lightning strike bringing down rail boom gates at Farleigh.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advised at 2pm that the rail boom gates at the Habana-Farleigh level crossing are down and the road blocked due to a lightning strike.

Maintenance crews are in attendance.

Rowallan Park (Farleigh) has received 50mm of rain since 9am this morning.

Marion-Eton Rd is also currently closed at Sandy Creek due to water being approximately 300mm over the road.

TMR advised motorists not to drive in flood waters.
