CRICKET: The Sydney Thunder took out the Big Bash League double last season but now the Brisbane Heat has the chance to do the same after its men's and women's teams qualified for this year's finals.
The Heat men will take on the Sydney Sixers at the Gabba on Wednesday after securing hosting rights for the second semi-final, despite a dramatic one-run loss to the Melbourne Renegades on Friday night.
The Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars battle it out at the WACA on Tuesday night for the first spot in the Big Bash League final on Saturday.
The Heat are also through to the Women's BBL semi-finals after a remarkable super over win over the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba on Saturday.
Brisbane batted first and made 6-127 from its 20 overs before restricting the Strikers to 8-127 in reply.
The Strikers then batted first in the super over, which was disastrous for the visitors as they finished 3-4 after the crucial six balls.
The Heat then won off just two balls thanks to a boundary from Beth Mooney, with player of the match Deandra Dottin also at the crease.
The Heat now takes on the Perth Scorchers in the first WBBL semi-final at the WACA on Tuesday while the Sydney Sixers take on the Hobart Hurricanes at the Gabba on Wednesday.
