A FATHER has been charged with drug driving after he allegedly ploughed into his nine-year-old son, killing him, while jet skiing on a Mount Isa lake in November.
Shane Michael Parkes, 34 was today charged with a string of charges including drug driving and unlicensed driving after the incident that claimed the life of his nine-year-old son Tobi and seriously injured his six-year-old son Dylan at Lake Moondarra.
It's understood police were investigating a number of potential theories, including if Mr Parkes was attempting to spray water at his son Tobi, who was standing in knee-deep water beside the shore of the dam, by turning sharply and accelerating.
It took 19 hours for specialist police divers to recover Tobi's body in the early hours of November 20.
Mr Parkes today appeared in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court and was denied bail.
He will return to court on April 18.
